How does the Care Dependency Grant work?
The federal government created a way to help families and children with disabilities. We are talking about the Care Dependency Grant project.
This is monthly and ongoing financial assistance for needy families who care for children with severe disabilities. This aid is paid monthly and will amount to R$ 1,980.
Families receive the money by electronic deposit or cash at the Social Security Agency of South Africa (SASSA) offices.
Families benefiting from this grant are free to decide how to use it. As it is about helping children, payments are made up to eighteen.
After this period, families can count on other aid from the federal government or partner institutions.

Benefits offered by the Care Dependency Grant

This project has already improved the lives of many families in South Africa.
However, this was only possible thanks to the capacity of this project to welcome and help families.
Below are some of the benefits contributing to this project’s success.
It’s not just parents who can ask for this help
Parents are not always responsible for caring for their children in many families. In some homes, stepparents or primary caregivers may take on this role.
For that reason, they, too, can apply for this financial aid. In effect, this feature ensured that more families could count on this scholarship.
Annual readjustments
Families receive fixed installments paid monthly. However, the value of this aid may be readjusted at the beginning of each year.
Therefore, the government mitigates the impact of inflation by helping needy families.
In 2021, families registered in this project received the amount of R1,890. Currently, this aid is R1,980.
