The government wants to help you offer your children quality of life, health, and quality food!
The Child Support Grant (CSG) emerged in 1998 with the mission to help poor children to have fuller life.
Today, more than 15 million children receive direct financial assistance to meet basic needs. You, too, can register with this help! To learn more, see the review below!
How does the Child Support Grant work?
Indeed, the CGS is a program created by the federal government to guarantee poor children access to basic conditions for their development.
This emerged in 1998 as a way to soften the legacy left by Apartheid, which lasted from 1948 to 1994. Today, the program serves families distributed in all nine provinces of the country.
In addition, the number of children assisted by the CGS grows yearly. It reached the number of 13 million last year.
In practice, registered families receive a monthly allowance to cover household expenses related to the children. The money reaches the family in the form of payment in cash or deposits in electronic banks.
An income criterion was established to define which families can receive this aid. The amount depends on the number of children under 18 in the family. The more children, the greater the amount received.
To enroll in this program, it is not necessary to be a biological parent. However, you must prove that you are the legal guardian of one or more children and that they live with you.
In addition, the CGS only applies to families native to the country or who have permanent residence in South Africa.

Benefits offered by the Child Support Grant
Indeed, the CGS has allowed changing the life perspectives of several children in all parts of the country. We know that childhood is one of the most important periods for developing the human brain.
Thus, any food deprivation, for example, can prevent an individual from reaching their full development potential.
This is the historical way the “poverty cycle” is perpetuated in several generations of the same family. We can say that the CGS is contributing to the end of this reality in our country.
How much does a family registered with the Child Support Grant earn?
As I said, the value assigned to each family depends on the number of children under 18 in the family. However, a fixed amount is paid for each child in the same family.
In effect, each family will receive the monthly amount of R480 for each child. Thus, a family with three minor children will receive R1,440, for example.
Are there any restrictions on the number of children from the same family that can be enrolled in the program?
There is a limit on the number of children registered only for families with non-biological or non-adoptive children. In this situation, the same family can only receive the aid amount for up to six children.
