Receiving the news that you have a disability is an extremely tragic event. However, such news can be even more traumatic for needy families.

After all, deficiencies of this nature in the heads of families are daunting. Especially because it can raise doubts about the ability to maintain the basic needs of the home.

Thankfully, families in this situation can count on the federal government for temporary or ongoing help. This help can come through the Disability Grant.

People with disabilities that limit their ability to provide for their basic needs can count on this assistance. It provides eligible people with the assistance of up to R1,990 monthly.

This benefit is granted to people with disabilities that hinder them for more than six months. Thus, temporary help can last between 6 and 12 months.

In cases of permanent assistance, the payment of the pension may exceed 12 months. However, this is not a lifetime help. This amount can be deposited into your account via electronic deposit.

Sometimes, you can receive your payment in cash at specific points, such as public offices and institutions.
